Random rambling about tech

Better youtube setup

I received a new camera that can output clean HDMI. It is a Canon EOS 250D. I have been experimenting with Open Broadcast Studio and Shotcut. On my Macbook Pro 2018 this seems to be the way to go. Still, on my M1 Mac mini, this does not work well with the video inputs, like the continuity camera from my iPhone. Maybe reinstall it? I don’t think it will fix it, as I am not alone in having these issues.

It’s fun learning these new tools, it works rather well at the moment. The only device I cannot integrate is my oscilloscope from Siglent. Although it has a LAN port, it has no webinterface, only the 4 port models have this feature enabled. It’s a little lame from Siglent to not enable this, as the main hardware of the 2 and 4 ports is the same, I think.

Setup difficulties

I am using Open Broadcast Studio a Mac Mini M1, Macbook, iPhone and a microscope. OBS can only handle one direct capturing device. This means I can only use 1 iPhone camera and the microscope. Included a second iPhone camera does not works. I also had to use my Intel macbook, as my Mac mini fails stubbornly to connect to the iPhone using OBS. I also had difficulties in setting up the audio, you need to make sure you connect the correct device in OBS. Including/integrating a webbrowser in the video resulted in a static page that I could not scroll through. Hopefully I will figure this all out in the next video’s.

This not really a repair, but more like troubleshooting.

This came in today for repair. It is missing components and the seller says it’s “untested”. This usually means it is not working. Looking at a glance, it looks like it has had some repairs done to it already.

A1200 Project

Just some teaser pictures of the upcoming Amiga 1200 tower.

My goal is to build my ultimate Amiga 1200 and kick it into the 21st century.

It will be based on an re-amiga 1200 mainboard, utilising a TF1260 accelerator card, a PCI Mediator, USB and more. Unfortunately there is no video footage of the paint and powdercoating process.

Welcome

I have spent quite some time viewing youtube movies about how other people are fixing old… no, vintage tech. I decided it is time to put my repair efforts online. You will find my youtubechannel @SimonSays-Techtalk here

All I do here is pure for fun, I am not a professional, so don’t try to copy my attempts, if you do so, you do it at your own risk.
